about me

Lelaina scott is a State College, pennsylvania based artist and recent graduate with a degree in Visual Arts and Music Studies from the Pennsylvania State University. She is planning her future exhibitions and selling works as well as working part time as a local barista surrounded by other creative people and friends :)

Artists strive to create works that speak. When I paint my portraits of people I know or admire or love, I want them to stand and speak for themselves. I do not paint myself, but I consider every painting I do a self-portrait. In collaboration with photographers from all walks of life, I take my idea and the results of my playing with materials and create pieces that speak from gallery walls or mailed postcards.

passion for the arts in fellow artists and those who inspire me is the root of where a lot of my paintings come from. that may be the subject of the painting, the inspiration for a color palette, or a planned piece. poems and photography, albums and musicians

art is anything you can get away with

creating has always been a huge part of my life : painting, drawing, writing, photography or making and producing music. being able to express myself and share that with those who inspire me is where my passion for art comes from. it started with musicians - hence “Off The Record” - but quickly branched out into other sources of creative inspiration. music is still the biggest part of my creative life and inspiration while I enjoy visual arts - and vice versa really!

Extended Bio

Lelaina Scott is an artist and recent graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts and Music Studies from the Pennsylvania State University. After being thrown into the unknown with the rest of the world in 2020, she found her passion for painting from when she was a kid at grandma’s house, playing with whatever art supplies and paper scraps were around. The reignition of her small childhood dreams begun here.
Lelaina is currently a registered artist with the Bellefonte Museum of Art and, in addition to having her artworks displayed around Central Pennsylvania, she is actively planning future exhibitions. She works part time as a local barista, meeting local artists over a cup of coffee and sharing thoughts, ideas and experiences. Lelaina has taught Acrylic Painting to beginners at the Arts and Crafts Center at Penn State for a little over a year and was always excited to see returning faces to her classes. She’s had her work published in local student-run publications around Penn State including Kalliope Art Magazine, VALLEY magazine and Penn State Creates with The Palmer Museum of Art, where she was a Social Media and Communications Intern. Her works have been shared across social media, and in turn, the world, and she hopes to continue reaching across the world to share her art with the people who have inspired her.
She has begun applying for residencies around Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She has family from that area and attended the University of Pittsburgh for a little less than a year, after having to relocate back home in Spring 2020. The rich art community there is welcoming and presents many opportunities to grow and expand her knowledge, community, and experience as an artist. This is just the beginning.
